A documentary by Valeria Stucki
Synopsis
Concerned about the dismal state of the environment in Kosovo, Swiss singer and actress Alexandra Prusa comes up with an unusual project: collecting Kosovar children's wishes about their country's environmental future. First, the children's wishes are broadcast on television. Then, Alexandra has local musicians set the texts to music. Together with her good friend, the wife of the Swiss ambassador in Pristina, she organizes a concert tour throughout Kosovo. The tour begins promisingly enough – there is even applause from Kosovo's minister of the environment. But Alexandra's repertoire also includes a song in Serbian, which soon leads to controversy. And in any case: the environment can hardly be the top priority in a country marked by civil war, unemployment, corruption, and an international military presence. Kosovo Dreams is a film about the gap between a well-meaning and optimistic private initiative, and the realities of a troubled local situation..
